October Julep It Girl intro box!!!!

This was my first month as a maven with Julep and I'm actually really pleased with what I received. The box is usually $19.99 a month with free shipping. I got this one free with the promo code FREEBOX, I added two polishes to get free shipping, so my actual total cost for this was $10.98. I received four nail polishes and a juleps nail therapy base coat. The add on color I chose was in "Kai" it's a light baby blue that reminded me of the ocean, I'll be trying this out soon, but I bought it for next summer for my toes!!! Really happy with the color. I used the base coat and I love it. The three colors that came in the box were all really pretty and those were bought for a gift for someone, I really hope she loves them. They are Josephine, a matte dark blue/grey color. Candace, a beautiful micro glitter gold; this is my favorite for her as her favorite color is yellow and this is perfect for fall!!! The last color is Ciara. This is by far the most beautiful one in the box. It's a micro glitter teal blue and I love it. I'm on the fence about keeping the last one!!!

In all I'm happy with the service, you can preview your monthly boxes before you commit and you can skip any month you don't want to receive one. You just need to log into your account before the 24th of the month to either accept the box or decline it for the month. You can also choose which box you get for that month. It Girl, BoHo Glam, etc. I like this part of it.

They also give you the option to upgrade your box and add on other items. I did choose to skip Novembers box, I some how became over loaded with nail polish at the same time I decided to sign up for maven status!!!

My Big Day Box Launched their new quarterly subsription today!!!!!

http://www.mybeautybootcamp.com/

My Big Day Box has launched their quarterly subscription information today!!! Link provided above. My Big Day Box was formerly a monthly subscription service ran by Stephanie and Daniel, a woman and her fiancé. Stephanie has told me it has always been her dream to bring beauty, health and fitness to women all over and her fiancé is helping her realize this. In my opinion they have the best customer service out there for a subscription service, going above and beyond anything I've seen; connecting with their customers on a personal level, listening to what we want and need. They're very honest and open and always happy to answer any questions we have.

I'm very excited about their new quarterly sub, the way they've set it up. They're not just going to send out products for a quarter then disappear. They plan to stay with the customer all the way, providing a "boot camp" for the season, tutorials on how to use the products they send and offering live boot camps in several states through out the season!! Stephanie has always made herself available for questions and I'm sure this will continue with the new boxes.

The price for the winter box is $79 dollars for a standard winter box that includes 8-11 products and beauty lessons and much more and $89 dollars for a deluxe box that includes 8-11 products, a fashion accessory and a handbag.

They're also offering grab bags for sale right now on their new website for $29 with free shipping. These include items from the previous bags in case you missed out on them. I'm excited for this as well. I use the product "The Eyes Have it" every night and my eyes have never looked better. The dark circles I've fought with my entire life have lightened dramatically. That product alone is $100, and it's included in the grab bag. I might just have to order one of those as well!!

Check them out, give them a try....you wont be disappointed!!!! Use the link above to go to their site and pre-order yours today!!!

Glossybox October 2013 review

I've had an off and on love affair with Glossybox since April of 2013. I've always loved their boxes and I've had the pleasure of receiving two of their limited edition boxes. The only problem I've ever had was with the shipping. I did cancel my sub, only to re-up this October for their collaboration box with Byrdie.com. The two major selling points on this months box were the Lights, Camera, Flashes mascara from Tarte and the Lotus Youth Preserve face cream from Fresh. These are both products I've never tried and have always wanted to, so I'm super excited to get the chance now.

The box came on time this month (actually early), that's a big plus for me. It was, as always, beautifully packaged and I loved opening it. I'm not really sure about the mascara now that I've seen it close up. It's packaged so differently than what I'm used to. It's almost a thick card board type package, only very shiny. It came with instructions on use, complete with a little sample brush to show you how to apply it. I'll let you all know what I think when I get a chance to try it out. The face cream by Fresh smells wonderful, like fresh cut cucumbers; which I love. I'll be using it tonight!!! It also came with a lip salve by Balance Me in the color beige. I'm just not sure about the color. I was hoping for the red, but I'll give it a try :) The last two items in the box were Sesha Renu exfoliating gel and BVLGARI Eau Parfumee. I have a lot of exfoliating products waiting for me to try and review, and I mean A LOT. So while I will give this a go, it'll be a while before I can give a review on it. The perfume will likely be given as a gift to my mom who loves these kinds of scents, it's not a bad scent by any means, it's just not for me. The bottle it came in is truly pretty.

The October Byrdie Glossybox overall was a great box, a good value with wonderful products. I paid $18.90 with a promo code (the code is no longer valid, otherwise I'd be sure to give it to you). The box normally sells for $21.00 per month as a monthly sub, but there are always promo codes out there, for either a discount or a bonus item with sign up.

My Big Day Box is a new subscription service geared toward women. They started out as a monthly subscription box and just recently decided to go to a quarterly service. I received both an August and September box from them and fell in love. The products they included are wonderful and the two bags included with the monthly boxes were lovely. Their customer service is top notch, they go above and beyond anything I've seen with subscription boxes. Reaching out to their customers on a personal level, staying honest, having fabulous giveaways on their website ( I won one!!!). The company is ran by a woman and her fiancé, no small feat when it's just two people!!! They've done a wonderful job so far. I'm waiting (im)patiently for their quarterly subscription box announcement due out this coming Thursday, October 31st. I'm certain it'll be amazing!!!

Hair care!!!! Beautiful hair made easy

Hair care has always been very important to me. Since I was a little girl and my dad insisted his daughters hair be as close to perfect as it could get. I don't remember a day that me and my sisters didn't have our hair up, in braids, in buns and he always had us wait a day or two to wash it. I was the rebel, the baby of the family. I'd sit and let my mom or sisters do up my hair, but as soon as I was out of sight the hair came loose and I was free lol :) .To this day I still prefer a head of unruly curls to a perfectly coifed hair do and I'm not very nice to my hair while I'm styling it; which is why I have to be on top of the hair care side and pamper it when I do deep condition and wash it.

I use my curling iron and flat iron daily, with all kinds of hair products meant to hold in that curl or keep my hair straight and shiny. I do use a heat protectant, but they only protect so much. So on to the care.....About four times a month I deep condition my hair with only one product ( I like to keep it simple and inexpensive). My dad always had us use olive oil, I've now moved on to unrefined coconut oil. I apply it generously (see picture above) to dry hair. Depending on how much time I have I'll leave it on anywhere from a few hours to over night. If I do sleep with it in I cover my pillow with a zip on case I use just for this purpose to protect my bedding.

I am careful in choosing the shampoo's and conditioners I use on my hair as well. I always go for the sulfate free, paraben free most natural shampoo I can find. I change what I use about every six months and I do use a clarifying shampoo once a month to help remove product build up. Right now I'm using a product I was sent via Birch box, Beauty Protector shampoo and conditioner. These two products are hands down my favorite. The best I've used to date and I've used a ton of different products!!! They are a bit pricey for the amount you get, but I only wash my hair every three days and you don't need a whole lot of product to clean your hair so they last me quite a while.

Beauty Protect shampoo and conditioner is available exclusively through Birchbox.com at 21.95 per 8 oz bottle. The scent is fabulous, like sugary snickerdoodle cookies. The unrefined coconut oil can be purchased at just about any health food store or grocery store, just make sure it's virgin unrefined.

Beautiful shiny hair doesn't have to cost a fortune to achieve and it doesn't have to take a lot of time. Just a few products and a few hours a month is all you need.

I hope this was helpful and you try out the coconut oil, it really does work well.

Be kind to yourself, take time each day for yourself, make someone smile.....Life is a gift, open it!!! Live it!!!

Good afternoon everyone!!! I'm in the process of moving all of my reviews and posts from my face book page Woman Beautiful to here on my blog. There are quite a few posts and some are for past boxes and products, but I'd like to have them all in one place. I had forgotten I made this blog until I came here to create one and like magic it appeared!!!! I hope you read some of them, I don't expect every one of them to be read as there are a lot. I'll be using this blog here from now on and hope to see it get busier. I love to hear from people from every where. Thanks!!!! Smokey

Review of Global Goddess Revitalizing Hair Treatment

I finally got a chance to use this the night before last. This is a product I received in my August My Big Day Box. The directions on the back give you three ways you can use it. As a moisturizing conditioner after you wash your hair, you can leave it in over night and you can also use this as a skin moisturizer to make your skin soft and glowing. I chose to leave it in over night, similar to how I use the plain coconut oil. The smell is amazing, it's very silky when you apply it and a little goes a long way. I opened the packet completely so I ended up using the entire thing. I had no problem with it washing out completely, and like with the coconut oil it made my shampoo lather up a great deal which is really nice . My hair came out soft and smelling really nice. I do love the product and the idea behind it and would definitely recommend it to anyone who needs deep conditioning or wants their hair silky smooth with no frizzies or flyways. I'll use the other two packets I received, but I probably wont purchase the full size product; only because I feel the unrefined coconut oil I use does a much better job for me at a fraction of the price. I wasn't able to get the Global Goddess website to display, I did find this product on Amazon in a price ranging from $20 to $23 for a 5 oz container. The price I found on Blush or dermstore was $45.00 for a 6 oz container. I do give it a rating of 10. It's a good product.
